I was just a few feet away at the bedecken when Seth first saw Marnina in her wedding dress. I had a chuppah-side seat and was watching Marnina through my zoom lens as she walked down the aisle during the ceremony. The joy and depth of emotion in their faces was a beautiful thing to behold. So intense was it that if they had been actors, I think their teacher would have told them they were over doing it! "That's not believable!" But this was the real thing, and their feelings infected everyone in attendance. Look at the photos below. Lots of happy tears at this wedding!
Both the ceremony and reception were held at the Beth Tfiloh Congregation north of Baltimore. My day started out calmly, with time to photograph the dress and rings and other details between shots of Marnina getting ready. Meanwhile, my wife Karen was photographing Seth and the guys. Slowly people began to arrive, enjoyed the schmorg and visited with Marnina during the kabbalat panim. But then after the men's and women's tisch started, things just sort of took off like a rocket ship!
Particularly intense and wonderful was the bedecken, where Karen and I worked in unison to capture the amazing moments happening all around us. I'd gesture to Karen to quick run behind the bride to get the groom's expression, while I whirled around the photograph an intense family prayer or hug. The pace continued unabated through the ceremony and reception, until we collapsed in a happy heap hours later, precious gigabytes of happy memories safely tucked away in our bags.
I was referred to this wedding by Cantor Rochelle Helzner (mother of Jess from this wedding last year): http://weddings.dennisdrenner.com/weddings/blog-entry/wedding_at_beth_el_congregation_in_baltimore/ (Thanks, Rochelle!!)
