I had a great shoot with Helena and her husband a few weeks ago in the Dickeyville area, one of Baltimore's hidden gems. Dickeyville is on the way to nowhere, and I only discovered it by accident many years ago in the dark days before GPS. I remember driving through the city when, all of a sudden, I was in a quaint European village (wondering if I had somehow slipped into a time vortex back at the last stop sign). Needless to say, it's a fantastic place to shoot with its stone houses, white picket fences, and the natural beauty of Baltimore's nearby Leakin Park.
Of course the real hidden gem this day was hiding out in Helena's belly! I thoroughly enjoyed meeting her and her husband, learning about their fascinating life stories as I photographed. We started shooting in their historic stone house (which has an actual working gas lamp on the front!), and then wandered around their backyard and the adjacent edge of Leakin Park. It was a perfect Fall day and we photographed in the morning light, so there were pictures everywhere. I didn't hurt that these guys made excellent subjects, as you can see in the photos below!
