In all my years of photographing weddings, this was the first time I've been asked to anchor a flip cup team. Fortunately, I did not choke under pressure, stuck the landing on the first attempt and got right back to work! (Some photos below).
Flip cup was just one of many highlights from a seriously fun wedding. Julie and James are a lovely couple, and their caring and sense of humor pervaded the wedding. They don't live in the Baltimore area, so I didn't get to meet them before the wedding, but by the end of the day they started to feel like old friends and I found myself wishing they and their guests would consider moving to Baltimore!
Our day started with some getting ready photos at the Hotel at Arundel Preserve, after which we zipped over to St. John's College in Annapolis for portraits. The ceremony and reception were held at Celebrations at the Bay in Pasadena. The ceremony itself was held outside overlooking the Chesapeake as the sun set over the Key Bridge. Afterwards, we moved inside for a great reception jump started by an impressive first dance routine from Julie and James. By the end of the night everyone was dancing, laughing and generally having a great time. Karen and I ended the night with big smiles on our faces and great pictures in our memory cards.
James before the first look.
Some portraits on the grounds of St. John's College.
A prayer before the ceremony.
Here I am being yelled out to put down my camera and start flipping that cup!
One of the groomsmen got caught taking a cat nap.
