Destination Wedding in Colombia: Maria Teresa and Raj in Cartagena
Event professionals would call this one a "destination wedding in Cartagena, Colombia." I would call it a weekend blowout for the record books, where everyone who attended will sigh wistfully every time they see that white linen outift hanging in their closet. Raj and Maria Teresa had both Catholic and Hindu ceremonies, and Colombian and Indian-themed parties throughout the weekend. There were mariachis and Brazilian dancers, flowing Saris and intricate henna, old colonial mansions and sultry Cartagena nights of the sort that inspired Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Of course, what made everything truly magical were Raj and Maria and the amazing group of family and friends they surround themselves with. I didn’t feel like I was working at all the whole weekend—except when the salsa band came on. Then it was hard not to drop the cameras and, as a Colombian friend of mine puts it, "punish the dance floor."
